Groundbreaking for addition to villa
By applying the first ground pile, the construction on the addition of the villa in Rotterdam has started. Contractor is Eekhoutbouw from Kwintsheul.
Design sketch station Roermond
NS Stations commissioned us to make plans for the redevelopment of the current railway station building in Roermond, which is now for the most part unused, to a lively station that is attractive to the traveller. Also, we evaluated how the connection to the direct surroundings and accessibility can be improved. The proposed operations reinstate the station’s original lustre and its position as a sparkling hub between traveller and city.
Design sketch Middelburg Central Station
Middelburg Central Station was officially opened in 1872 and has been a State Monument since the 1970s. The station building has lost its original lustre over the years and is now largely unused. This design sketch commissioned by NS Stations determines how reassignment of use and restoration of the original monumental parts and details can reinstate Middelburg Station in its original position as centre between traveller and city.
Conservation Customs Hall Roosendaal
A request for a subsidy as cultural heritage from the Province of Noord Brabant has been submitted for the conservation of the Customs Hall on the railway station complex of Roosendaal. This hall was previously used by couriers Van Gend en Loos and is now rented out as private storage. The intended tasks concern the conservation of the monument and removing temporary constructions. The original characteristics and monumental quality of the roof landscape will be reinstated by restoring the original roof finish, eaves overhang, and dormers.
Update January 2015: This subsidy series was divided over a series of smaller projects, which unfortunately did not include the Customs Hall. In March of 2015, a second series of subsidies will be allotted which might still include the Customs Hall.
New photographs from Zaltbommel
Ruland Architecten was commissioned by NPC Royal Haskoning DHV to design the addition for Zaltbommel railway station with access turnstiles and glass barriers. A new routing parallel to the tracks is added to the existing routings through the building on the ground floor. This new entry is characterised by an awning supported by a double row of columns on one side. This makes the turnstiles and glass barriers a logical part of the expressively designed station building.

Station Geldermalsen emerges from the scaffolding
The Geldermalsen railroad station building was, for the duration of the restoration and renovation, wrapped completely and skillfully after the example of the well-known artist Christo. Since then, the works on the higher levels have been finished and the scaffolding has been taken down for the most part. The result of all preparations and activities is now visible and it’s a real gem.
Environment permit granted
For the addition to the villa in Rotterdam, the Environment permit has been granted. The definitive selection of the contractor will follow shortly, after which the construction process will start quickly.
Design sketch extension villa Rotterdam
Ruland Architecten has finished the design sketch for an addition to an existing villa on the Kralingseweg in Rotterdam. The new addition will extend the living room and has been placed as a third element against the main volume. The characteristic horizontal lines have been made from thermically galvanised UNP profiles.
Platform building in use
The kiosk building on platform 2 of Eindhoven station has been delivered. After a flying start, the build was executed quickly and uneventfully. The resulting building is a sight to behold: the original ceiling has been restored, nice light fittings and a clean adaptation of the new kiosk. By restoring the original colour palette it’s become clear how colourful the 1950s were. The wait is now for the renovation of the remaining two platform buildings to complete the ensemble.
Delivery awning Zaltbommel
This week marked the occasion of the delivery for the new entrance to Zaltbommel Railway Station. The new awning integrates the turnstiles and glass barriers as a logical expansion of the station.
