Former GWK store now under construction

The GKW in station hall Maastricht has moved and the contractor has started the demolition work. This spacious and bright retail space will soon be ready for use again. A unique place located in the station hall and on the station square.

Ruland Architecten reports on new work at locations with double place names: the restoration of the station waiting room in Heemstede Aerdenhout and the renovation of Gilze – Rijen station. In Maastricht there is news about the Grand Café.   Dutch language only.

Restauration platform awning at railway station Deventer

Work on the skylights of the platform awnings at railway station Deventer has started. Ruland Architecten has made the desing, consults with the relevant municipal and national monument services and takes care of the necessary building permits.

Valuable mural discovered

Beautiful discoveries continue to emerge in the Maastricht station building. During the restoration of the former 3rd class waiting room, a wall painting by the Maastricht artist Harry Schoonbrood was discovered. An interesting and colourfull wall drawing was discovered in one of the office spaces at Maastricht station. Pictured is a typical Maastricht street, painted directly on the stucco surface with different colors. The size is approximately 80 by 80 cm. Together with the contractor a frame is made to save the image for future generations.

New facade openings in Maastricht

Work on the Maastricht station continues. Not visible from the street, new facade openings are made to provide daylight for the office spaces on the mezzanine. Shape and size correspond to existing openings, filled in with a modern interpretation of the original windows.
