Office
Ruland Architecten, previously Ruland + Partner Architekten bna, was founded in 1995 and has since developed itself to become an allround design bureau with an extensive portfolio. Our assignments vary in size and in design disciplines from city planning studies, railway-related design tasks, architectural tasks (utility, education, care) and interior assignments, as well as a strong focus on redevelopment of existing, monumental buildings.
Every single design assignment demands a specific approach: there are no standard solutions. This applies to both new construction and existing buildings. Our bureau is mainly specialised in solving complex design tasks in unusual (urban) locations, on both area and building levels. In doing so, we consider the concept of sustainability not only as an energetic factor we have to account for, but we especially contribute in creating solutions for the sustainable reuse of existing, empty buildings. Conservation and repurposing is often an excellent starting point for sufficiently flexible buildings that can accommodate changes in use over time. We have a lot of knowledge concerning railway station locations and redevelopment issues for monumental (railway station) buildings.
In order to guarantee an optimum final result, we prefer to be involved as architects in all stages of the (integral) build process, from preliminary sketches to execution and delivery. The specific demands of our clients, both programmed and budgetary, form an important guideline in our method. Our architects have a lot of specific knowledge on tap, we co-operate with our partners, always keep an overview and pay attention to the smallest detail. A good communication between all parties involved is naturally an essential condition. Among our clients are councils, project developers, housing associations and private persons.
